About Us

All you need to breathe is just one lung, all you need to walk is just one lung. Experiencing a life-changing loss made us realize that we have more to give than we realized. Living our best life is to live in the service of others.

Who we are

LungRunners is a registered N.P.O (197-379 NPO) with the South African Department of Social Development.

We are a small group of individuals that share one passion. We want to make a difference to causes that are close to our hearts.

Some of us have been faced with illnesses or been in accidents previously that resulted in us having some form of physical limitation. This has however not stopped us from trying to make a difference. We decided to take action and started this NPO.

Lung Runners was established and formalized on 01 August 2017. We are a non-profit, voluntary association with the sole aim to provide assistance by any means to kids and adults with disabilities or cancer. We also provide assistance to elderly people in our community.

What we do

Once a specific need has been identified, our aim is to raise funds by showing the world you can run, no matter what your circumstances or limitations you as an individual have.

All you need is at least ONE lung and the willingness to try.

The funds raised will be used to assist the individuals that have been identified to make a difference in their lives in any way we can. By helping these individuals we want to improve the quality of life and make it easier in any way possible.

We will also build partnerships with other organisations that support the same initiatives and has similar objectives. We offer diverse services at many levels. All the projects and services we offer are a direct response to the needs identified in the communities around us.

Why we do what we do

When life hands you any kind of setback, it does not always seem fair. However, when you get a second chance in life, you just have to give back and make a difference in other’s lives. Our members, like many others out there, have been in some big setbacks. Losing a lung due to cancer, being in a car crash where no one thought you can walk again never mind run and having multiple screws in their backs. All of these setbacks just made us stronger. Now it’s time to give back.

We are committed to making a difference no matter how big or small it might be.
